Off The Ground works with rock climbers of all skill levels. We specialize in bouldering and sport climbing, although we have also helped athletes with their indoor competition, trad, and multi-pitch goals.
After you fill out an assessment form (under the "Apply Now" tab above), we will respond to you via email within 48 hours with next steps.
We typically start you off with a metrics testing week so we can get a sense of your strengths and limiting factors. This also includes technical analysis so we know how to program your movement drills.
Following your metrics testing week, we will write up your first training plan (typically 8-10 weeks). The training plans look different depending on your goals and schedule, but generally you can expect the workouts to last 45-60 minutes per session, 3-4 times per week, with self regulated "open climb" options to add to each workout.
We create a foundation of lifestyle habits supported by sports nutrition science. We dive into macronutrients, micronutrients and foundational food groups as they apply best to energy systems, training and recovery. The program evolves as you do; communicate in detail & your program fits you in detail. Conquer your goals throughout all life seasons learning to make food work for you instead of against you physically or mentally.
Committing to a training program while injured might not be the best idea, although it depends on the type of injury and the severity. If you've recently suffered a major finger injury, I would not suggest applying until you are almost completely healed. Otherwise, through the FOCUS or APEX programs we can work around most injuries provided they are not severe. We are not certified to provide physical therapy, although we know several incredible physical therapists we would be happy to recommend.
Yes! We use the TrueCoach app to send you your training program, communicate through messages, and review video. Billing is also done through TrueCoach to make everything easier for you (and us).
Nutrition coaching is done via email as this often involves larger attachments and documents.
Nope! We want you to be able to join a program as quickly and easily as possible. We also want to make sure cancellations are stress free.
We offer a "freeze" option which allows you to stay on the app with us and continue messaging us as needed, although no workouts will be provided. This option costs $15 per month and is intended for athletes that would like to temporarily pause their membership.
